My g-grandfather Joseph Kirby Braddock was born around 1859.
He was a Grocers's Assistant at time of the 1881 census in New Mills Derbyshire.
By 1884 he was describing himself as a Tea Dealer.
He must have had some business sense as he later acquired a grocery shop on Market Street in New Mills.
By 1894 he had a drapers shop on Market Street.

Elizabeth, his wife, separated from him and she moved to Marple about five miles away.
He continued to run his shop in New Mills while she ran a millinery shop on Stockport Road, Marple.
He died at 4 Cross Street, New Mills and is buried in St George's Weslyan Chapel graveyard at New Mills.
When Elizabeth died she was buried at All Saints church, Marple.
My grandfather Harold was a draper and milliner in New Mills, where he had an 'agency' selling feathers and flowers.
His shop was on Market St, opposite his father's old shop.

Harold Braddock's shop Market Street, New Mills
He opened a factory in Manchester for blouses and undies, near Piccadilly Station on Buxton Lane.
