The Spanish Lady - who was she?

A long-standing tale says that my paternal grandmother was the descendant of a "Spanish Lady".

This legend places a "Spanish Lady" in the Gaul family, several generations back. She was said to have been brought back by an Irish soldier from fighting in Spain.

It is just possible that these could have been the parents of Esther Connor (Irish name, and she married in 1829 in Liverpool, where there were many Irish immigrants at the time. The date would tally with Penisular War for her parents' meeting??)

My grandmother, Ada Gaul, had a "Spanish" look about her. What do you think?
